Justin Milton has worked as an insurance agent in the little picturesque town of Shannon, Tennessee, since he graduated high school. Along with his job in insurance, Justin plays in a band that performs in local night clubs and dance halls. As with many aspiring musicians, he dreams of one day being a professional musician, but is content with his life the way it is in Shannon. When his band participates in a battle of the bands contest, he feels strongly that they will win and doors may open for them to move up in the music world. The winner of the contest will be the opening band for one of the most popular rock groups of the time. His dreams are dashed when they come in second place. Then suddenly his life changes when a talent scout from Nashville approaches the band and offers a recording contract. He learns that sometimes dreams do come true, but often with a cost that is more than bargained for, and not quite what was planned.
