The letters to the seven churches in Revelation are sadly overlooked and minimized by most in the body of Christ today. These are the last and most solemn words from Christ Himself as He reveals Himself in glorified splendor more than 60 years following His ascension. He had given His "Great Commission" message as His last words on earth (Matthew 28) and now these fresh words depicting what He expects of His churches in every age and culture. Last words hold essential information. We want to study these messages because of the truths contained about becoming what Jesus Christ has ordained His people to become. There are hardships for believers globally taking place and these are growing. These seven letters open our eyes to our needs and situations and beckon us to move forward in faithfulness and obedience to the things highest on the heart of God. Because of our natural propensity to follow examples, Jesus has given us seven real, historic bodies of believers which depict a complete spectrum of the primary attributes He is seeking to cultivate within churches today. To miss out on this necessary teaching is to set us up to fail when our hour of trial and testing come.
