In Africa during the civil war, I had this need to bring some joy to the empty walls in the places where I resided, but not as much as I did in London, probably because with no friends and jobs outside my scope put me under pressure as never before. To make sense of the new world I paint and write. My ideas are better than what I paint or write. It keeps me sane.
