Bertrand Arthur William Russell (Trellech, May 18, 1872 - Penrhyndeudraeth, February 2, 1970) was a British logician, philosopher, mathematician and authoritative exponent of the pacifist movement. Why Men Fight is a book published in 1916 by Bertrand Russell based on a lecture given during World War I. It is also known under the title Principles of Social Reconstruction. His political philosophy specifically addressed the opinion of avoiding war and transitioning this society into a new form dominated by freedom and justice. The book deals with the state, war, property, education, marriage, and religion. It is a blind impulse that moves humans rather than a purpose or desire that humans have. As is often said, war is not explained by economic motives or the like, but is caused by the 'impulse' of invasion.
