Against the backdrop of the bombing of cities across the UK during World War II, three school friends, Bonnie, Althea, and Alicia, have an adventure involving the army, top-secret research, treachery and the lead scientist, Victor Frankenstein. On the way, we meet the caring housekeeper, Mrs Smythe, a schoolmate, David Grant, and Bella-Boo, Bonnie's young Staffordshire Bull Terrier. From disappearing people and a low-flying bomber to secret rooms, all will be drawn into the mystery centred around Strappel Manor, an aging isolated house on the edge of Dartmoor.
