At the threshold of the 21st Century an alien invader has subdued human civilization, but humans have withstood the impact force and neither side has won the battle and now the planet is divided into refugees in underground cities and invaders in orbit, in an endless stalemate. The protagonist is an inhabitant of one of the largest city-state on the American continent; he is a surface explorer. Faced with an increasingly less hidden dictatorship, he is forced to flee. On his way he meets those who could become the turning points for the war against the eternal enemy: a forgotten artificial intelligence and a team of European visitors, from the city Götterdämmerung across the ocean. The picture begins to take shape: new ideas for the final victory, the help of the only A. I. existing, and the stubbornness of an exile. Who will win the last battle for the planet?
