The story follows Nina, a loving and gentle golden retriever puppy, through her journey of adoption and coping with congenital heart disease.
It is a book about hope, unconditional love and accepting the "other."

Each book in the Nina the Golden Dog series is written to include Nina's point of view, inviting children to empathize with Nina's story as they see life through her perspective and facilitating an understanding of life's challenges as well as an ability to cope with them.

The series was written and illustrated inspired by real life experiences.
