Syrjäisessä vuoristolaaksossa on kaksi erilaista kylää. Ne ovat eläneet keskenään rauhassa vuosisatojen ajan. Perheet ovat jakaneet keskenään yhteisiä iloja ja suruja, kunnes kylien välinen epäluulo valtaa alaa.
Kylien elämä ei ole entisellään, kun nuoret miehet aloittavat kostoretkensä ja kylään jääneet vanhukset, naiset ja lapset alkavat pelätä.
Viisas Kaina-mummo lähtee rohkealle matkalleen kylien välillä sijaitsevalle kaivolle. Vihanpitoon sortuneiden kylien rauhoittamiseksi tarvitaan isoäitien lempeä salainen ase.
