The powerful true story of a family surviving the horrors of the Killing Fields in Cambodia.

From 1975 to 1979, the Khmer Rouge took control of Cambodia, violently forcing 17-year-old Sokphal Din, along with his family, out of their home, creating chaos and uncertainty.

What followed was slavery, malnutrition, disease, and mass extermination, ultimately resulting in the genocide of two million people, including many of Sokphal's relatives and friends. His mother and some of his siblings survived the inhumane conditions through their great determination to live. Despite being constantly ill and starving, they used all of the energy they could muster and made sure they were resourceful for one end goal: to survive and be together.

Sokphal was forced into several hard-labour camps in the Killing Fields but fought for his life to be reunited with his family. They tried to escape the constant violence under an unforgiving regime and - after many struggles - eventually succeeded.

This is Sokphal's unforgettable account of a family miraculously sustaining strength, courage, and love, in the face of unspeakable brutality.
