Heidi

The story is about an orphan girl, Heidi, who is asked to live with her grandfather, a grumpy hermit. As time passes the readers experiences the bond of love that grows between them despite her grandfather's cold-hearted and mean attitude towards her in the beginning. The story takes a turn when this bond is disrupted and Heidi is suddenly taken away from her beloved grandfather to be a playmate for Clara, an invalid young girl who cannot walk.
Johanna Spyri was born in a Swiss village overlooking the Lake of Zurich, with a stunning view of the Alps. She is one of the most famous authors of children's books and her psychological insight and ability to enter into a child's mind and portraying it in an enchanting manner, fascinate her readers every bit. Johanna's art of gripping storytelling has made Heidi one of the most successful children's books of all time.
