"Fairytales for Femmes" is a collection of seven romantic stories ranging from Gothic, sad and mysterious, to sweet, picaresque and realistic. Seven women, from different backgrounds must challenge the prejudices of the world and confront their own fears before they can get the woman they love. Falling in love with another woman can be dangerous; as in the Gothic tale "The Event" where a young woman in a misogynous, authoritarian society risks her life when she disguises herself as a man to get close to the daughter of the ruler; and in "The Love of My Life" a wealthy heiress, haunted by memories of an abusive childhood, has discovered new and dangerous ways to forget.
