Sovereignty Through Interdependence
Harry Gelber
This text argues that the forces of technology and interdependence have not undermined the sovereignty of modern states. The authors believe that since the mid-1960s the major industrial states - the USA, Britain, France, Germany and Japan - have mostly used these forces to pursue national purposes. The nation-state framework has over this time still remained the legitimate basis of political authority and law. There is no evidence, the book argues, that the managerial effectiveness of the power of the state has been less in 1995 than in 1975 or 1965.
