On January 20, 2009, after one of the most participatory elections in American history, Barack Obama became the nation's 44th president and the first African-American to reach the White House. In all that time, eight years of intense mandate, Obama, who received the Nobel Peace Prize, advocated for harmony between peoples, for respect for civil rights, for nuclear disarmament and for the fight against climate change. He embodied the long-awaited American dream; a dream that continues to dream of a possible future and a better world. Not just for us, but also for our children.
