The Role of Political Myth in the Modern Political Order of the Metamodern Maria Semenowa

Myths explain to people how to live with the time, not against it. They are the key to preserving historical memory, building the continuity of epochs, as, for example, modernity was followed by postmodernity, and then by metamodernity. The present political order of the metamodern is characterized by the combination of opposing political myths (by the example of the harmonious coexistence of the myth of globalization and the myth of identity) and by the creation of new mythological constructs, like the pre-election image of Macron, the "candidate of all the French". Metamodernism brings to the fore the question of the harmonization of opposites in the current political agenda."Fluctuation is the natural order of the world," Turner proclaimed in his metamodernist manifesto. Thus, the role of political myths is to structure, explain, combine different meanings, and simply be remembered in the mass consciousness, despite the widespread oscillation-throwing.
