Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a pervasive developmental disorder that affects brain function characterized by some degree of impairment in social behavior, communication and language. According to the WHO (World Health Organization), one in 160 children worldwide has an autism disorder [1]. The prevalence of autism is 1-2% worldwide, 1 in 150 children in France and 1 in 68 children (i.e. 1 in 48 boys and 1 in 168 girls) in the USA [2]. In 2015, the estimated prevalence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Canada, including children and adults, is 1 in 94. In children aged 5 to 17 years the prevalence was 1 in 66 children (15.2 per 1,000).
