The aim of this book is to understand the impact that senescent cells can have on the process of remodeling of the extracellular matrix via the secretion of the secretory phenotype associated with senescence but also the consequences of this modification of the extracellular matrix on development. cancers and metastases. Different models of xenografts in vitro and in vivo in mice were used and showed a change in the level of mRNA expression of most factors associated with SASP such as IL-1?, IL-6, IL-8, MMP -1, MMP-3, MMP-10, MMP-12, VEGF etc. in senescent models compared to non-senescent models. These different factors secreted as a result of their overexpression promote excessive degradation of the extracellular matrix and chronic inflammation, the starting point for the occurrence of an epithelial-mesenchymal transition which in turn initiates the development of cancer cells. Thus, the therapeutic approach aimed at eliminating senescent cells using senolytic drugs seems to be effective during aging but also in the fight against age-related diseases associated with it.
