Analysis of the difficulties of operating youth facilities in Burkina Faso Emile Mihin

The book is the result of a study carried out among the staff and beneficiaries of fourteen (14) youth facilities in the Eastern region and resource persons. The analysis highlights the following main difficulties: (i) the lack of specifications and a decree governing their construction, organisation and operation; (ii) the lack of human, financial, material and infrastructural resources for some and the inadequacy of others. The main suggestions concern the adoption of legal texts relating to the organisation and operation of youth facilities in Burkina Faso; the development of a programme of activities based on the concerns of young people; the provision of sufficient qualified staff; the allocation of substantial financial resources for operation; and adequate and sufficient equipment. This work has also enabled us to contribute to wider reflection on the problems of managing and operating youth facilities in Burkina Faso.
