The counter-performance of agriculture in the groundnut basin El Hadji Malick Sylla

Based on a study of the department of Kaolack, this book attempts to shed light on the physical (aridity, drought, salinization), institutional, and human (organization of the sector, land pressure) factors that explain the poor performance of groundnut production in the Senegalese groundnut basin between 1990 and 2010. It also attempts to analyze the coping strategies deployed by the populations, the behavior of oil producers in the face of the supply deficit linked to the decline in their main raw material, as well as the place of groundnut cultivation in the current government's agricultural investments.
