In the current Cuban rural environment, the young population constitutes a key social actor in the participatory processes in Cuba. The research aims to identify the potentialities and limitations of youth participation for food and bioenergy production in the Agricultural Cooperatives of Cifuentes municipality in Villa Clara province and is based on the comparative method. The main limitation identified is the scarce involvement of young people in the decision making of their cooperative and the main potentiality is the availability to exchange competences and train themselves to increase food production and the sustainable use of bioenergy.
