Correcting the communication skills of children with intellectual disabilities Dmitry Bufetov

Interpersonal communication is of fundamental importance in the development of the personality of children with intellectual disabilities. Due to the inherent impairment of emotional and cognitive attitudes towards others, children in this group have a negative attitude towards interpersonal communication, which results in low levels of social success both in peer groups and in society at large. The low level of success in communication, in its turn, can interfere with the formation of the child's personality and make it much more difficult to prepare the child for integration into society. The work summarizes the practical experience of using the attitude which as a general stable mental attitude of a personality is able to provide the process of productive and socially approved communication of children with intellectual disabilities. Practical significance of the work lies in the fact that it has developed specific recommendations regarding the content and sequence of work on the formation of communication skills in children with intellectual disabilities.
