Language anxiety of Arab Postgraduates in university UTARA Malaysia Saleem Jebur

This study investigated language anxiety among Arab postgraduates in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Fifty participants were selected as its samples. The findings suggested that language anxiety can originate from learners' own sense of self, their self-related cognition. This study shed some insights about foreign language learners that can levels of language anxiety among Arab postgraduates in Universiti Utara Malaysia. This study was quantitative in nature that used Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scale to examine the students' anxiety levels. Since students with anxiety disorders are easily frustrated, they may have difficulty completing their work. The finding of the study revealed that that there was an average level of anxiety among EFL students in Universiti Utara Malaysia. There was no significant difference between male and female postgraduate students level of anxiety, but it was found that females had higher level of anxiety than males. It was also found that there level of anxiety was similar for PhD and Masters students. It is hoped that increasing and extensive knowledge of foreign language anxiety will help both university EFL researchers and EFL learners.
