"The History of Peter I unfinished work of Pushkin came to us in the form of extensive preparatory text in which Pushkin consolidate the results of examination of the Petrine era. On the basis of this text (or so-called "Materials for the history Petra Velikogo"), covering the chronological events of the time of Peter, Pushkin suggested, as he said shortly before his death, to write his "History of Peter", "in a year or in six months' and then "correct the documents." Thus, so I think they conceived the "History" prepared already to such an extent that he hoped in a short time to finish all the work. However, to accomplish this task and write the final text of "History of Peter", he is not part of an extensive uspel. Bolshaya Pushkin manuscript became known to the reader only a century after the poet's death, when it was published in 1938 in the Great Soviet academic publication of his works. This is explained by the fact that after the death of Pushkin manuscript was banned by Nicholas I, then mislaid and found only after the revolution in 1917 to the 1938 of it were known in the press only a few fragments, is less than one-quarter of it.
