Physisch-geographische Analyse und Bewertung von Naturrisiken und Naturgefahren an ausgewahlten Beispielen in Costa Rica Maja Jimenez

Dem "WeltRisikoBericht 2013" zufolge belegt Costa Rica den siebten Platz im globalen Ländervergleich im Hinblick auf die Gefährdung durch Naturgewalten und Vulnerabilität der Gesellschaft. Eine physisch-geographische Analyse und Bewertung der Naturgefahren und Naturrisiken in Costa Rica ist notwendig, um die Problematik zu identifizieren und Aussagen bezüglich des Risikomanagements vor Ort treffen zu können. Forschungen rund um Hazards in ausgewählten Regionen Costa Ricas, Risiko-Wahrnehmung, Initiativen, Hazard-Informationssysteme und Aufklärungsprogramme sollen Aufschluss geben, sowohl über das Ausmaß der Gefahr, als auch über das Entwicklungsstadium hinsichtlich "adjustments and adaptations". Nur durch adäquate Risikoprävention kann das Land die Wahrscheinlichkeit verringern, Opfer einer Naturkatastrophe zu werden. Abstract According to the "WorldRiskReport 2013" Costa Rica is ranked seventh in the global country comparison in relation to the risks posed by natural disasters and vulnerability of society. A physical geographical analysis and assessment of natural hazards and risks in Costa Rica is necessary to identify the distress and make statements regarding risk management on the spot. Conducting research on hazards in selected regions of Costa Rica, risk perception, initiatives, hazard information systems and education programs will provide information on the extent of the risk, as well as propound the stage of development towards adjustments and adaptations. Only through adequate risk prevention, the country will reduce the likeli-hood of getting affected by a natural disaster.
