Quantity and quality of OM greatly influence phytoavailability of Ni by forming complexes and chelates of varying stabilities. Organic amendments could affect distribution and chemical partitioning of Ni in soils thereby altering its phyto-availability. Addition of OM could decrease phytoavailability of Ni by transforming phyto-available forms of Ni to form bound with OM, oxides or carbonates. However, decomposition of OM could release Ni into soil solution thereby increasing its phytoavailability. Due to accumulation of Ni in plant shoots at toxic level, it reduces the photosynthesis in plants. At the end it is concluded that, the application of farmyard manure performed best than compost. Farmyard manure application increased root and shoot fresh weight over that of control, while compost application decreased shoot and root fresh weight and enhance metal uptake in plants.
