This book represents the culmination of a research project that explores the relationships among variables that impact caregiver strain and depression among Older African American spousal caregivers of mates with Alzheimer's Disease. Forty older spousal caregivers completed questionnaires that measured caregiver strain, depression, marital relationship quality, boundary ambiguity and spirituality. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's R, and multiple regression. Results revealed significant correlations between the variables of caregiver strain, depression and the quality of the marital relationship. Implications for practice regarding meeting the healthcare needs of spousal caregivers are also included. This work is an excellent resource for scholars,teachers,and individuals interested in issues that impact the lives of Spousal caregivers.
