The stresses like cold, drought, and high salinity, which all cause dehydration damage to the plant cell, is the most common environmental stresses that influence plant growth and development, limiting productivity in cultivated areas world-wide. The stress genes control expression of many drought, salinity and cold inducible genes and causing tolerance to environmental stresses in many plants. Using a pair of specific primers, dehydrin1 gene, dehydrin2 gene, dehydrin10 gene, putative phosphate transporter gene, choline momooxygenase gene and DREB/CBF1c gene were amplified from different varieties of eucalyptus through PCR. Dehydrin2 gene of Eucalyptus camaldulensis and dehydrin10 gene of Eucalyptus globulus were then cloned into 2.1pCR TA cloning vector and transferred in E.coli DH5? strain. The sequences of these Dehydrin genes were deposited in GeneBank, Eucalyptus globulus dehydrin 10 gene under accession no. HG915712 and Eucalyptus camaldulensis dehydrin 2 gene under accession no. HG813113. The products of these genes may be characterized for their stress tolerance levels and potents could be further used for transgenesis of stress tolerance in economically important crops.
