Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is known to affect the heart and produce disease. While it is clear that cardiac involvement in AIDS patients is relatively common, the disease expression varies widely from clinically silent to severe symptomatic disease associated with increased morbidity and mortality. Electrocardiogram (ECG) has shown abnormalities in AIDS, whether or not cardiac disease is suspected clinically. ECG being the cheapest and readily available and non-invasive cardiac investigation would serve to identify these abnormalities and be a screening tool for heart disease in AIDS. This book, in addition to reviewing the literature on cardiac affectation in AIDS, provides insights into the ECG abnormalities among patients with AIDS. It also characterized the type of electrocardiographic abnormalities and provide the relationship between symptoms of cardiac disease and the ECG abnormalities. The information contained in this book should be especially useful to internists, cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, family physicians, emergency physicians, cardiovascular nurses, biomedical scientists and other related professionals.
