Expressionist Organic Paths in Architecture: from Finsterlin to Gehry

In history there are numerous twists and turns that join and connect many times in the evolution of the arts. We experience periods of academic classicism, and standardization, as opposed to impromptu moments of individualism and libertarian anarchism. Weaving threads of the heterodox architecture?s path, which abandons the established norms and contrasts the pre-constructed, seems impossible. Doing so often relies on isolated and discordant personalities that are difficult to reconnect with a general poetic. Some exponents of anti-Classical and anti-dogmatic routes, however, can be grouped into a single strand dominated by the conjugation of two poetics: Organicism and Expressionism. Architecture today explores the contemporary Expressionist and Organic instance with a new approach: along with a new freedom of composition and formal experimentation, tries to force the building structures to behave like real organisms that are able to heat up, breathe, live independently.
