Plastics Waste Recycling, Employment and Income Generation in Developing Countries: the Case of Kano Nigeria Mustapha Muktar

This Book has explored the various stages involved in solid wastes recycling in Developing Countries; it has examined the employment and income potentials from recycling plastics waste in Kano city of Nigeria. The techniques of Binary Choice Modeling and Descriptive Statistics are employed in the analysis of findings. Plastics waste recycling have found to be a significant contributor of income to both those involved in the process as well as the Government as an entity. In terms of employment it has provided employment to various categories of people ranging from scavengers to factory workers that are tied to recycling industries. The book recommends the integration of the scavenging into the formal systems of developing countries in order to reap its full benefits.
