The institutional-systemic corruption that the Nigerian polity has been characterized with, coupled with the high-handedness at which parties and party officials in Nigeria violates the constitutional provision, hand pick party candidates during elections or party primaries. Just like Chris Uba highhandedly installed all the members of house assembly in 2003 general elections in Anambra makes this study a worthwhile. Hence it is very imperative to understand the factors influencing the role and decisions political parties and their official play and why they had embark on such roles. This is necessary so as to appreciate why party politics in Nigeria had been marred by inconsistencies and irregularities. The more we understand the roles of the these institutions, the better we will able to understand the nature of governance in Nigeria.
