This book describes a novel strategy for the synthesis of erythronolides which are analogues of the antibiotic Erythromycin. In the era of growing antibacterial resistance, the work described here may be relevant in the development of new antibiotics. This work which includes development of unprecedented synthetic methodologies and strategies aims to reduce the number of synthetic steps to almost half of what had been previously reported for the past 3 decades.
