What is wisdom? Can one become wiser? Can wisdom be systematically acquired? This is an attempt to answer those questions by formulating a concept of wisdom, and a method by which it can be acquired. This work builds on Aristotle¿s insight into ethical theory by reconstructing his assumptions and arguments about morality in order to abstract those concepts that may be significant for the definition and acquisition of wisdom, with a view to establishing both their logic and their applicability to the present day. I argue that becoming wiser is the most significant aspect in understanding wisdom because it entails an element of practice that can lead to human fulfilment. This work seeks to establish a clear and satisfactory conceptualisation of wisdom, arguing that Aristotle¿s ethical concepts of the hierarchy of ends, virtue and the chief good are not just abstractions about morality and wisdom, which have been a basis for previous discussions of ethics. In conclusion, The application of one¿s knowledge of wisdom aims at attaining both the good for one¿s life as well as the good for their society
