This book describes the psychometric properties ofthe Diagnostic Reasoning Assessment The DiagnosticReasoning Assessment assesses the level of expertiseof the diagnostic reasoning process in graduate levelnurse practitioner students during performance examsusing standardized patients. NP students'performance was assessed by faculty raters and Standardized Patient raters using the DiagnosticReasoning Assessment. Generalizability studies wereperformed for the Diagnostic Reasoning Assessment, SOAP Note Evaluation Tool and Script Concordance Testto determine the variance components of the threemeasures. Evidence for the construct validity of theDiagnostic Reasoning Assessment was examined bycomparing correlations between the DiagnosticReasoning Assessment and the two other instruments, the SOAP note evaluation tool and the ScriptConcordance Test. Based on the studies conductedthere is support for the psychometric properties ofthe Diagnostic Reasoning Assessment.
