Belonging in a foreign country often is a difficult attempt of finding "home" in a culture very unlike the one the immigrants are originating from - in most cases people do not share the same mentality and very often the immigrants are confronted with a hostile attitude that is on the verge of racism. In addition to all these problems immigrant women - in this particular case Indian immigrant women in the United States - are more often than not unprepared for leading a self-confident and independent life. The consequences on the immigrants' lives - resulting from these circumstances - are going to be explored in the course of this book.
