Recently, death from breast cancer has droppedsignificantly in the United States due to earlydetection and effective treatment. DCE-MRI hasemerged as a promising technique for detecting, diagnosing, and staging breast cancer. Computer-aided detection systems have proven to beuseful for evaluating the large number of imagesproduced. The next logical step is to implementcomputer-aided diagnostic systems. This book describes the development of acomputer-aided diagnostic (CAD) research system forinvestigating breast MRI masses. It shows thatcomputerized algorithms are reliable, have thepotential to reduce inter and intra-observervariations, radiologist workload, and facilitateimage interpretation. With an ever growing number ofimages and expanding clinical applications, CADsystems might play an integral role in breast imaging.
