Can an organization reduce poverty? Can a community? Paul Born believes that communities can takeleadership on poverty by developing a newinfrastructure that seeks to create change. Despite our best efforts, poverty is on the rise incommunities across Canada. Our current responses tothe situation are not working. Organizations can notadjust fast enough to meet the changing needs anddemographics of those they are trying to help. In Leaderful Communities, Born explores a new way toaddress community problems - one that requires peoplein a community to learn and work together. Using theexample of Opportunities 2000, a millennial povertyreduction campaign in Waterloo Region, Ontario, Leaderful Communities examines the fundamental natureof community leadership and considers the kind ofcommunity leadership that can lead to a communitywithout poverty.
