Black women have to face many problems regarding beauty standards, image and self-esteem. In order to find a psychosociological balance, we must learn to identify ourselves as black women with our own characteristics and thus see ourselves as we are. As the title suggests, this book is intended for women who want to affirm their own codes of beauty through their natural hair. Therefore, for women who wish to wear their natural hair or who already wear it, you can use this book as a guide in this process of self-recognition, encouragement and the valorization of your beauty. We must heal and free ourselves from westernized diktats of beauty by deciding to ignore the prejudices and comments of those around us. To love ourselves as individuals, we must love ourselves as we are with our genetic characteristics. Beauty professionals have a major role to play in this process of recognizing black beauty as one beauty among many. Therefore, they cannot and should not compare the different types of beauty attributed to each ethnic group. The comparison must be made within the characteristics of the community itself.
