Conan Doyle predicted Germany would start WWI, based on his reading of German military authors and his insight into Germany's popular enthusiasm for a policy of conquest and domination through war. This volume contains a collection of Conan Doyle's essays on WWI written at or shortly before the time, most notably the prophetic 'Great Britain and the Next War, ' and his recruiting pamphlet written in the early months of the war at government request.
