The Middle Temple Murder

An unidentified man is found dead on the steps of the law chambers of Middle Temple Lane, near to London's law courts, and Spargo, a young ambitious journalists, is one of the first on the scene. In working with the police detective Sargent Rathbury and a young lawyer and friend whose address was found on the deceased begins to meticulously investigate and report on the case. Spargo eagerly follows numerous leads, some obtained through the police and others through appeals from the information in his newspaper articles. He eventually ascertains the dead man was a former resident of London who had travelled from Australia to England by boat with a case of diamonds and the intentions of meeting up with an old acquaintance, Mr. Alymore, now a member, of parliament. As more leads appear, Spargo realizes the importance of the stamps found on the murdered man's person, leading him to question and grow suspicious of two unforthcoming residents of the chambers. The trail eventually leads him to a small Yorkshire village where all of his questions will be answered.
