The book challenges readers by first showing an animal's habitat in beautifully illustrated watercolors along with that animal's baby name ("A puggle is a baby ..."). On the first page the animals are shown only in silhouette. The following page reveals the complete scene and the type of animal is revealed ("A puggle is a baby ... platypus").
