Paddington's Inner Circle is a novel that takes place in a postcard-picture town obviously named "Paddington." But it is the people making up the town who, without realizing they are doing so, create an inner circle of caring for themselves and one another. It is not the overt care of soup kitchens and visiting the sick kind-of-care, though these people would never ignore that. But they live their own lives, as we all do, finding, hardly knowing that they do, that core of love -- all kinds of love -- that works healing. What is there to be healed? grief, fear, loss, loneliness, divorce, murder, pain, injury, betrayal, and whatever kind you need healed. And what kinds of love are there? Openness of mind and heart, generosity, seeing beauty in all things -- nature, food, body, kindness, poetry, woodwork, music, and everything you think of as a means of love. All of this circles through the people of Paddington.
