The dimensions of the perception of job security have evolved over the years and the workers' expectations from trade unions and employee organizations have also dramatically changed in the globalized world. The present research has been designed and implemented in this context, where the large numbers of regular and non regular workers of a predominantly labour intensive are experiencing such dilemma. Their expectations from a nascent trade unionism in the leather complex at Kolkata, India have been studied to evaluate the impact of changing dimensions of job security and income security perceptions. Roles of the employers, trade unions and respective government bodies and regulatory agencies have also been studied to explore possible policy initiatives, followed by active participation in betterment of situations.
