Kasy falls in love with Cain, but then Cain's actions and words cause her to question herself. She needs to make a decision, but she wants to stay alive. Kasy battles the question of why she can't leave. The physical and mental abuse tortures her, and the deceiving lies keep her captive.

Kasy writes: "My life was a prison. There were many people that asked me why I don't leave him. They would say to me I was so stupid. And I remember crying myself to sleep, asking myself the same question: 'Why can't I just leave him?'"
