She is being teased and bullied by her schoolmates. They lack empathy for the racial difference that exist between they and she. Acts and statements that are expressed through inequality and prejudice lead to an unhappy school life for this girl. THE SKIN I AM IN; is a wonderful and entertaining teaching resource. It carries a universal of kindness and tolerance related to racial diversity.
The moral of this story is an exercise in empathy, a necessary tool and catalyst that may aid that may help shift the perception toward a person of color...a major misgiving in our world.
