It requires a village to raise and educate students. Parents, teachers, and community stakeholders should be intentional about ensuring students have the necessary tools to achieve academic success. Students in underserved communities face many obstacles, challenges, and/or barriers to receiving a high-quality education. Inspired Minds: Educational Strategies for Underserved Students, provide guidance on how to achieve academic success for at-risk students or students from underserved communities. There are things that parents, teachers, and stakeholders can control such as leveraging the opportunities that they are in control of. The end game is when preparation meets opportunity, students can thrive academically. In disadvantaged communities, there are things within the grasp of control of those that are advocates for education. It begins with raising the expectation level for students in underserved communities, advocating for more resources, as well as mentoring and exposure to successful people that look like at risk-students.
