Lix Tetrax sided with Lucifer against the Lord in support of free will and fell with the throng of angels. But, when Lucifer turns to the Darkness, Lix and twenty Unnamed Angels refuse to follow him. Centuries pass, and Lix spends his days keeping the human Lucent line as safe as possible from temptation. Lix hears the words "Hallen Chen" in a vision late one night, and calls upon the remaining Unnamed to meet him in New Orleans and determine what the sign signifies. They discover that Hallen Chen is a human girl bearing a remarkable resemblance to Lilith, the Lord's first woman. Lix must choose between the will of man, the will of Belial, and the will of the Light to determine who Hallen Chen really is, and what his purpose is according to the Light.
