March 2019, with its famous π day on the 14th, and the splendid March Equinox on the 20th (completely unrelated to the start of the spring, which can be - depending on the location in the northern hemisphere - between the end of February and the beginning of April), brought us all kinds of news: on March 4th astronauts have entered SpaceX's Crew Dragon while in orbit for the first time, just hours after the commercial spacecraft docked at the International Space Station; the U. S. debt grows by about $2 B/day, now is over $22.1 T; specialists created a new method that could rapidly detect cancer in cells; Jeff Bezos hosted his annual Mars Conference in Palm Springs, California; new battery research may result in high-performance batteries made entirely from polymeric materials; machine learning, AI and other exponentially growing technologies (all based on mathematics) are transforming businesses, the political economy, and our society on this planet.. In this 5th newsletter of the third volume, the 29th in total, we included the most relevant news, in a balanced approach, usually directly from the source, to help the general public better understand the realities around us.
