Mistaken identity, or the sovereignty of God? When the man Kerstin Leigh Overton has called Daddy all her life claims to have purchased her from her birth father to replace his stillborn infant daughter, her life is turned upside down. Believing everything bad that has happened in her life is his fault, she determines to cut all ties with the only life she's ever known. Without considering the ramifications, Kerstin resigns her job at St. Jude Hospital, where she works as a pediatric nurse, jumps in her car, and heads out across country with no particular destination in mind. In route, she decides to search for the man who sold her as though she were the runt of a litter of pups. Her quest takes her from Memphis, Tennessee to Pleasanton, California, where she is accosted by a teenage girl in the mall parking lot.
