Over the centuries, Paul's view of law has been considered "one of the most puzzling and seemingly insolvable in biblical study," according to James Sanders, an editor of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

David Horrell's textbook explains why Paul's view of law has puzzled scholars for so long: "The basic problem in interpreting Paul's Christian view of the Jewish law is that he seems to say both positive and negative things about it."

Cryptographer Michael Wood has proposed the first systematic reconciliation of every positive and negative statement regarding law.  Moreover, he claims that the 1900-year-old puzzle has always had a simple, straightforward answer; an answer that can be expressed in a single sentence!

While Wood's one-sentence solution fully accounts for all of Paul's legal statements, it inadvertently shows that Paul was a very different man than Christianity has believed.  In fact, Wood asserts that it has always been traditional Christian doctrine which kept scholars from understanding the legal statements in the first place.
