Paul's Aeon Theology in 1 Corinthians French L Arrington

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relation of Jewish apocalypticism, especially the apocalyptic scheme of the two-aeons, to Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians. After the problem and method of approach and the distinction between apocalyptic genre and theological motifs are stated, the study focuses on: (1) the thought of a number of scholars who see a correlation between Paul's thought and Jewish apocalypticism; (2) theological motifs of late Jewish apocalyptic; (3) the apocalyptic scheme of the two-aeons in 1 Corinthians; (4) conclusions and implications.
